A fast-food and coffee chain is being lined up to replace a Pizza Hut restaurant in Watford.
Canadian-based Tim Hortons has submitted plans for a restaurant and drive thru by the Dome Roundabout.
The application, which was submitted to Watford Borough Council this week, seeks to change the use of the Pizza Hut restaurant into a takeaway facility, consisting of a coffee shop and/or restaurant, along with a new drive-thru.
Tim Hortons is known for its fresh coffee and baked goods including doughnuts, along with sandwiches, bagels, burgers, and muffins.
The chain already has nearly 5,000 outlets worldwide across 14 countries with the first UK Tim Hortons opening in 2017.
The closest Tim Hortons to Watford are currently in Milton Keynes and Harlow in Essex.
According to several reports from other local newspapers across England, Watford’s Pizza Hut restaurant is not the only one eyed up to become a Tim Hortons.
Applications have been submitted to create Tim Hortons restaurants at Pizza Hut sites across the country, including in Gloucester, Cumbria, Ipswich, Chester, Plymouth, and more.
The current Pizza Hut restaurant in Watford is still believed to be trading. Pizza Hut has been approached for comment.
