A picture shows the damaged caused when a large tree collapsed on top of three cars in Watford.
The tree is said to have fallen over a garden fence in Howard Close around 12.40am this morning (Saturday) before collapsing onto the parked cars - an Audi, Toyota and Peugeot.
One homeowner, known as LJ, said he was awoken by the sound of a “massive crash” before going to see what had happened.
He said: “I heard a massive crash and thought it was a car crash or similar sound. A few of the neighbours and I went to investigate.
“We found a tree had collapsed over a garden fence and landed on cars parked nearby. 101 was called and police arrived shortly after.”
A picture snapped by LJ around 10.30am this morning shows the tree completely covering the Citroen and the Audi, although it narrowly avoided the Peugeot.
The windscreen of the Citroen has also been smashed.
It is currently unclear as to why the tree fell.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has been approached for more information.
