People are being encouraged to get vaccinated against Covid with restrictions on course to be eased on July 19.
Although the link between Covid and hospitalisations and deaths has been "weakened", Professor Chris Whitty has urged the nation to "push hell for leather" to reduce infection rates and roll out the vaccines to prevent a significant increase in long Covid.
Recent figures from the Office for National Statistics suggested 385,000 people in the UK had experienced long Covid lasting for at least a year. The estimates said 962,000 people experienced long Covid in the four weeks to June 6.
Anyone over the age of 18 can book their Covid vaccine online or via 119, but there's also the option of turning up at walk-in clinics without a booking.
Getting a jab now could be more important than ever with infection rates in Watford and Three Rivers the highest they have been in months. There have been at least 440 cases across the districts in July.
