A leisure centre operator is helping keep kids moving this summer by hosting a series of activity camps and sports sessions.
The activities will take place between Friday July 23 and Tuesday August 31 at William Penn Leisure Centre and South Oxhey Leisure Centre, which are managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Three Rivers District Council.
The camps will offer a range of fun activities for children between the ages of five and 13 to keep them engaged in exercise outside school.
The sessions will run for the first time at the new South Oxhey Leisure Centre, and for the second year running at William Penn Leisure Centre.
Activities will take place from 8am to 5:30pm and include arts and crafts, multi-sports sessions and adventure challenges including scavenger hunts and shelter building.
John Sewell, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “Our summer activity schedule is always popular during school holidays and we’re delighted to be running a series of different activities to suit children of all ages.
“It’s important that children are encouraged to stay fit and healthy outside of school, and we are offering them fun and affordable ways to do this.
“The activities are designed to teach young people new skills and make new friends in a safe and fun environment. We are all looking forward to welcoming them into the centres.”
Cllr Chris Lloyd, lead member for leisure, added: “The pandemic has had a huge impact on children’s mental and physical wellbeing.
“Now that restrictions are finally easing, this is a great chance for them to get out and have some fun during the school holidays.”
