I must question your statements that the gasometer was the reason the “Dome roundabout” was so named. I believe that a garage and petrol filling station, that preceded the petrol station that was demolished to make way for the block of flats that are now there, had a dome on the roof, and that is how the name came about. I think it would have been a National Benzole station.
Perhaps that is a challenge for Christine Orchard to search the museum archives for a picture?
