Drivers in Watford are facing disruption due to planned road closures for roadworks.
A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer states its intention to temporarily shut parts of Whippendell Road and Hagden Lane while the works are carried out.
The closure order will come into force on July 19 if made but the restrictions will only take effect at the times shown on signs on or near the roads.
The planned closures involve:
Whippendell Road from its junction with King Georges Avenue south-eastwards and north-eastwards to its junction with Queens Avenue, a distance of approximately 376m.
Hagden Lane from its junction with Princes Avenue south-westwards to its junction with Whippendell Road, a distance of approximately 72m.
Hagden Lane from its junction with Sydney Road north-westwards and north-eastwards to its junction with Whippendell Road, a distance of approximately 80m.
Other temporary road closure orders in the area are also due to come into force on July 19 if they are made.
The longest will apply in Redhall Lane, Chandlers Cross, involving the 1013m section from the junction with Fir Tree Hill north-westwards and south-westwards to the junction with Sarratt Road.
Bucks Hill, Kings Langley, is also set to be closed to vehicles from a point 384m south-east of its junction with Quickmoor Lane south-eastwards for distance of approximately 150m.
The previous day, July 18, an order is set to be made to temporarily shut a lengthy section of Coppermill Lane, West Hyde, for works.
This will apply from the junction with Old Uxbridge Road north-eastwards and south-eastwards for a distance of approximately 1026m, except for access.
Part of Harefield Road, Rickmansworth, is also due to be closed to motorists from July 22, apart from access.
This will involve the 300m-long section from the junction with the access road leading to Woodcock Hill Industrial Estate north-westwards and south-eastwards.
