- A person has died after they were hit by a train this afternoon.

- National Rail says there has been 'major disruption' between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes Central.

- The incident was first reported just after 3.30pm (June 15). According to the London Euston station Twitter account, the person was hit at Cheddington station in Buckinghamshire, near Leighton Buzzard.

- The British Transport Police has confirmed a person died at the scene. Their death is not being treated as suspicious.

- National Rail posted on its website this afternoon: "A person has been hit by a train between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction. Emergency responders and railway staff are on site and as a result, all lines are closed. Trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected to continue until 7pm."

- Since then, some lines have been able to reopen, but there are delays of up to 45 minutes, and services are scheduled to be affected until the end of the day (past 8pm).

- The railway services affected include Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway.

- Stations affected include Watford Junction, Kings Langley, Hemel Hempstead, and Berkhamsted. Passengers at Bushey heading north will also be affected.
