An update on the vacant John Lewis space at Atria Watford
The closure of the John Lewis branch – closed for good due to the financial strain of the pandemic – has left an opening at the shopping centre.
Atria Watford's owners say nothing has been finalised as of yet in terms of a new occupant, but there has been a ‘good level of interest form a number of operators’.
Since John Lewis in Watford officially closed in August, a further eight stores across the country have since shut their doors permanently.
Man jailed after making 'sexually explicit' calls to schools and nurseries
Joel Deeny, who made "highly offensive and sexually explicit" phone calls to schools or nurseries in Watford was jailed for 20 months.
Deeny, who previously lived in Watford, made phone calls that were indecent or grossly offensive in their nature to five different schools or nurseries between 8 to 14 December 2020.
He called Laurance Haines Primary School in the town on December 8 before contacting Squirrels Day Nursery in Hertfordshire a day later.
The 33-year-old then called Boys and Girls Nursery Group - which has settings in Watford, Rickmansworth, Croxley and Stanmore – on December 10 before making a further offensive call to Watford Grammar School for Girls on December 13.
Paratroopers descend from Chinook helicopter
A Chinook helicopter was seen soaring over Watford as paratroopers jumped from the sky on Friday afternoon.
The massive transport helicopter was spotted flying over west Watford and about six people were seen parachuting in the direction of Merchant Taylor’s School in Moor Park.
Teens start fire in Carpenders Park
Officers were called to help the fire service after a group of 13 to 16-year-olds lit a fire in Carpenders Park on the evening of June 8.
Three Rivers Police asked parents whether their children smelled of smoke when they got home – calling for them to get in touch if they did.
A police spokesperson said: "Not only is this behaviour incredibly dangerous and idiotic, it's time consuming for our emergency services and also damages valuable bits of equipment for local children/families.”
Watford’s third kit leaked
Anticipation for next season is building following the Hornet’s return to the Premier League.
And fans keen to see next year’s kits had their appetite satiated early this year after a possible Watford third kit was"leaked" by website Footy Headlines.
The website, which is well-known for revealing strips ahead of their official releases, claimed last week to not only reveal Watford's home kit for next season, but also said they had uncovered designs for an away kit too.
