A Watford mum is donating her hair to charity to help people who have lost theirs as a result of cancer treatment.

Leighanne James, 49, lives in Watford and had her hair snipped off on Saturday May 29 at Shapes in Hair hairdresser in Harrow.

The auditor for Costco wholesale explained that she felt compelled to do it after witnessing one of her colleagues beating cancer.

The mum-of-one said: “I was so happy for her that I wanted to donate my hair – she was the inspiration.”

Leighanne, who has a unique hair colour, has already donated her hair once before five years ago to help those who require a similar colour.

She continued: “I've decided to cut my hair off and, thanks to its length, I can donate it to help children who have lost theirs as a result of a condition or cancer treatment.

“I feel that donating my hair is the very least I can do and I am hoping to also raise as much money as possible for The Little Princess Trust.

"I've managed to raise £1254.00 so far...and still rising.

“My hair will grow back but sadly theirs most likely will never grow back properly.”
