Watford’s mayor has helped unveil a new fine dining desserts parlour in the town centre.
Heavenly Desserts in High Street is now welcoming customers after mayor Peter Taylor cut the ribbon at an official opening last week.
The new branch will see roughly 20 new jobs created at a range of levels.
The store was previously only open for collections and deliveries, but manager Klara Medkova revealed business has been booming since the full unveiling.
She said: “It has been really busy since opening, especially the evenings, a lot of families with kids.
“We received loads of positive comments on the food and décor and we are still hiring people for front and back of house staff.”
Heavenly Desserts was initially denied permission for a branch in the town centre because the council wanted to keep retail units there.
But last year the Government made it easier for former retail units to be turned into stores, meaning the dessert parlour managed to gain permission from the council.
The menu includes a variety of waffles, pancakes and “seasonal creations” with a drinks menu of artisan teas and coffees.
It also offers vegan options from brownies and cakes to sundaes and waffles.
Founded in 2008 and having stores all across the UK, Watford’s franchisee Ismaeel Waseem said: “We will be creating approximately 20 new roles at the new store at a range of levels.
“Our new team has undergone intensive high-end artisan dessert training ahead of our opening so that every waffle, crepé and cake is picture perfect.”
