Watford and the surrounding areas are forecast to see winds of up to 50mph today as well as prolonged spells of heavy rain.
The area has been pummelled this morning by gales of between 40 and 50mph which are set to continue until around midday before gradually easing from 4pm.
A large tree has already fallen and completely blocked a road in Croxley Green - which emergency services are currently working to remove.
A weather warning for strong winds and rain has been issued, with the Met Office forecasting Watford to expect "some longer spells of rain, these heavy and prolonged at times".
The BBC Weather forecast says there is around a 50 per cent chance of rain throughout the day, with temperatures set to hover around 11C.
Though the wind will die down by the middle of the afternoon temperatures will remain unseasonably cold over the weekend.
Saturday will be between 9C and 13C, with a mixture of rain and cloud, with Sunday being mostly cloudy and rainy with patches of sun, with temperatures of between 7C and 11C.
The Met Office's outlook for Sunday to Tuesday says: "Showers developing on Sunday, with more persistent and heavier rain later.
"Bright or sunny intervals and locally heavy showers on Monday, and a few showers on Tuesday.
"Feeling cool throughout."
