Police are urging people who have any information over a six-year-old Chihuahua that was stolen in Rickmansworth to come forward.
The dog, called Molly, was taken from an address in Grove Crescent on the morning of Thursday, March 18.
Her owner, Gerald McCarthy, put up flyers appealing for information after the theft but was maliciously contacted from an unknown caller who demanded money in return for his pet.
The caller also threatened to harm both the 69-year-old and Molly.
Hertfordshire Constabulary have been investigating the theft and says it "would like nothing more" than to reunite Molly with Mr McCarthy.
PC Kieran Llewellyn says Mr McCarthy is “understandably still incredibly upset” with Molly having been missing for nearly two months now.
He said: “Despite appeals in both the local and national media, we are yet to trace Molly. As we approach the two-month anniversary of her disappearance, we are still investigating this and still want to hear from anyone who thinks they may be able to assist with our enquiries.
“Molly is a short-haired Chihuahua, and a creamy blue fawn colour. She was not wearing a collar at the time of her disappearance, but she is micro-chipped.
“If you have any information at all, please do get in contact. Even something that could seem relatively minor or insignificant could be key to progressing our investigation.”
Anyone with information can contact PC Llewellyn directly via email at Kieran.Llewellyn@herts.pnn.police.uk.
