Motorists in North Watford are facing disruption due to temporary closures for roadworks from the middle of next month.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer outlines plans for sections of 17 roads in the area to be closed and to prevent vehicles from waiting at any time while the work is carried out.

If the order is approved, it will take effect from May 17 and last for 18 months. However, the restrictions will only apply at times shown by signs at or near the affected streets.

The lengths of road where the works are due to take place are:

Leavesden Road from its junction with Longspring south-eastwards to its junction with A412 St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 800 metres.

Victoria Road from its junction with Leavesden Road south-eastwards for its entire length.

Regent Street from its junction with Leavesden Road south-eastwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 294m.

Cecil Street from its junction with Leavesden Road south-eastwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 370m.

Judge Street from its junction with Leavesden Road south-eastwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 428m.

Ridge Street/Gammons Lane from its junction with St Georges Road south-eastwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 318m.

The Harebreaks from its junction with St Albans Road north-westwards for a distance of approximately 261m.

Maude Crescent from its junction with Ridge Street north-westwards to its junction with The Harebreaks, a distance of approximately 128m.

Gammons Lane from its junction with St Albans Road north-westwards and south-westwards to its junction with Ridge Street, a distance of approximately 195m.

Balmoral Road from its junction with St Albans Road south-eastwards to its junction with Imperial Way, a distance of approximately 305m.

Cromer Road from its junction with Bradshaw Road north-westwards for a distance of approximately 164m.

Yarmouth Road from its junction with St Albans Road south-eastwards to its junction with Bradshaw Road, a distance of approximately 171m.

Bruce Grove from its junction with Bradshaw Road north-westwards for its entire length.

Salsbury Road from its junction with Bradshaw Road north-westwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 165m.

Hatfield Road from its junction with Bradshaw Road north-westwards for a distance of approximately 148m.

Brixton Road from its junction with St Albans Road south-eastwards for its entire length.

Lowestoft Road from its junction with St Albans Road north-westwards to its junction with Leavesden Road, a distance of approximately 144m.
