One person was left trapped after a car overturned in a three-vehicle crash on a busy motorway this morning.
Emergency services swarmed the M1 near Watford on Wednesday following the incident on the junction 5 northbound exit slip road around 8.40am.
Hertfordshire Constabulary says a white Vauxhall Corsa, a brown Honda Jazz and a white Ford Transit van had been in collision.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said a car overturned and one person became trapped as a result.
“The casualty was removed from the car by the fire service and taken into the care of the ambulance service,” the fire service said.
Police say one person is believed to have suffered minor injuries.
An East of England Ambulance spokesperson added that three patients were transported to hospital for further assessment and care.
Traffic was brought to a standstill for around an hour this morning by emergency services following the crash, although has now been released.
However, the junction 5 slip road heading northbound is still closed as emergency services work at the scene.
