Plans for four industrial units on a former car park adjoining a cash and carry warehouse in Watford have been granted.
Four units are to be constructed on the site, next door to Dhamecha in Imperial Way.
Each of the single-storey units, up to 11.7 metres high, would range in size, between 261 sqm and 280 sqm – with a total of 19 parking spaces.
The plans were approved at a meeting of Watford Borough Council’s development management committee on April 14.
At the meeting, it was reported that the site is surrounded by industrial buildings and that it sits within a designated employment area.
Reports pointing to the "critical losses of industrial floor space" across Watford were highlighted.
Recommending approval, the council officer's report suggested scale and design of the proposed buildings were considered "appropriate to the surrounding context".
It was also noted that there was a high risk of contamination at the site, due to previous land uses.
A number of conditions relating to remediation and monitoring have been attached to the permission.
A previous application for four light industrial units on the site – with a different design and layout – had been approved in September 2019.
