The easing of Covid restrictions has caused a boom in an already busy buyers market, but in Bushey homeowners are struggling to sell houses.
In fact according to Rightmove, Bushey ranks seventh in the top 10 buyers’ market areas – where buyers are perceived to have an advantage because there is seemingly more demand in the area than supply.
Since the start of the last year there were 31.8 per cent of properties for sale in Bushey.
To compare, Newquay is the highest buyers’ market area with 82 per cent of properties for sale in the area.
According to Zoopla, the average house price in Bushey currently is £496,091.

Why is Bushey a good place to live?
Bushey may feel under siege from new development at the moment, as a result of opportunities arising as a result of Hertsmere Borough Council’s local plan being put together.
In recent weeks, proposals have come forward for a football stadium and other facilities at Bushey Hall Golf Club, and housing and a secondary school at Bushey Country Club.
And while Bushey has not escaped development in recent years, the town it still incredibly sought after and popular with existing neighbours, with its village-feel shopping areas, community spirit, and green spaces.
Bushey boasts excellent school opportunities, with three secondaries, a host of primary schools, as well as a selection of private schools.
The transport links are good too, with close proximity to the M1, bus routes into north London and Watford, and Bushey station, in Oxhey, which can get passengers into London Euston in 20 minutes.
Watford High Street Overground is also just a short distance away.
But despite all the above, sales in Bushey this year appear to be slow, and perhaps it is the price tag that comes with Bushey’s homes.
The town’s average house price of just under £500,000 is double the average price for a property in England, according to Office for National Statistics from August last year.
Sellers in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire, one of the most expensive places to live in the whole of England, are also struggling to find buyers for their homes – with 29 per cent of homes sold so far in the town this year.
