Can I commend your coverage of the story of the shocking news about the proposed development of the Bushey Country Club site? Unlike other local publications, you have highlighted the fact that building a 1,950 pupil school in the middle of Bushey Village is the very last thing that residents want to see.
We are told that the plan for the largest ever school to be built in Hertfordshire is being imposed on Hertsmere by Conservative-run Herts County Council (who oversee education) and so the unanswered question is why Bushey’s two existing Tory county councillors have just sat back and let this happen. Are we to presume that they approve of this nightmare scenario? Are they unaware of the chaos and disruption that such a school will have in our area regardless of the destruction of our precious greenfield site or are they just “asleep on the job”?
Talk of “consultation” is meaningless when local opinion is being ignored in this cavalier fashion. Fortunately, Bushey voters will have a chance to express their view about the scandalous inactivity of their existing county councillors when the county elections take place on May 6.

Liberal Democrat county council candidate, Bushey North
