- Traffic delays in Watford have cleared after a road closure was lifted.

- Rickmansworth Road was closed into town, near the town hall, this morning, causing problems on the road network, with drivers being diverted via West Watford.

- The nature of the work is unclear but according to a traffic management website, Thames Water was responsible for the closure.

- According to someone in the area, the closure was causing 'serious problems' with drivers carrying out three-points turns in one residential street.

- Drivers were using Cassiobury Park Avenue to try and get past the closure, but there was no access. Photos uploaded to Twitter showed queues and drivers turning around.

- There was access into Watford via the west of the town - but this saw a number of routes, including Whippendell Road and Vicarage Road grind to a halt.

- Rickmansworth Road was clear by 1.45pm.
