A man who headbutted and punched a teenage girl in Bushey has been sentenced to nearly two years.
Adam Jaylani, aged 21 of Orange Hill Road in Edgware, was given a 21-month sentence after appearing at St Albans Crown Court last Thursday (March 18).
The court heard how Jaylani and the teenage victim - who was aged 14 at the time – were known to each other.
In November 2019, they were sat in a car on Park Avenue in Bushey, and Hertfordshire Constabulary said this led to an altercation between the two.
Jaylani headbutted the victim before punching her in the mouth, causing facial bruising and “significant injuries”.
He pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm before the sentencing.
Along with his prison sentence, Jaylani also has a 10-year restraining order which prohibits him from contacting the victim and her family or visiting her address.
Detective Sergeant Dean Trollope, who oversaw the investigation, said: “Jaylani has shown himself to be a dangerous individual. The victim was terrified and she suffered significant injuries as a result of the vicious assault.
“Since the attack, the victim has been safeguarded by specially-trained officers and received help from Beacon, our victim support service. I hope Jaylani’s conviction and resulting restraining order have provided her with some closure, and she can now begin to move forward with her life.”
