A number of roads in Watford are set to be affected by temporary closures from the start of next month at the earliest.
A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer outlines the planned works that could start as early as April 5 and 7, subject to approval, with the orders lasting up to 18 months. However, the restrictions will only apply at such times indicated by signs on or near the relevant roads.
The council is intending to prevent vehicles from using Clarendon Road, Watford from its junction with A411 Beechen Grove south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Market Street, a distance of approximately 270 metres, for highway improvement works, except for access.
The alternative route when this work is taking place will be via A411 Beechen Grove, Water Lane and High Street.
That order, if made, will come into effect on April 5. A separate order is scheduled to come into force two days later that will lead to these temporary closures:
Chiltern Avenue, Bushey from its junction with Little Bushey Lane south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 333m.
Salisbury Road, Watford from its junction with A412 St Albans Road south eastwards to its junction with Bradshaw Road, a distance of approximately 165m.
Park Road, Watford from its junction with Church Road south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 56m.
Church Road, Watford from its junction with Park Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 56m.
Codicote Road, Watford from its junction with Garston Lane north westwards to its southernmost junction with Gaddesden Crescent, a distance of approximately 113m.
Kingswood Road, Watford from its junction with Greenwood Drive south westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 80m.
Kingswood Road, Watford from its junction with Perivale Gardens south westwards to its junction with Moss Road, a distance of approximately 102m.
That length of Greenwood Drive, Watford from a point in line with the northern boundary of No. 39 south eastwards to a point in line with the southern boundary of No. 45, a distance of approximately 50m.
Additionally, the existing one-way system on that length of Salisbury Road, Watford from its junction with A412 St Albans Road south eastwards to its junction with Bradshaw Road will be temporarily suspended whilst the works are in progress, as will the one-way on that length of Yarmouth Road from its junction with St Albans Road south eastwards to its junction with Bradshaw Road.
