Hi, my name’s Casey and I’m two-years-old. I was brought to the National Animal Welfare Trust last October as a pregnant stray. I had two beautiful kittens who’ve now found their forever home but I wasn’t quite ready to find mine. Five months on, I’m finally confident enough to be adopted.
When I first arrived at the trust I was very scared and would hiss and swipe whenever I was approached, but, as time went on, I became more confident.
Nowadays, you’ll hear me playing with my toys – the fishing rod, jingly ball and tunnel are my favourites. My trust in people has grown so much that I’m happy for you to enter my pen. I may even come and rub my chin on your hand – although actually stroking me might be a step too far if I don’t know you yet.
If I’m sitting in my bed the staff know that’s my safe space and I don’t want to be disturbed, but most days I’ll often sit at the front of my kennel. I like watching what’s going on while waiting for a tasty snack.
As I’m not yet comfortable being touched I need a quiet, adult-only home with no other pets. My new human will need to be gentle, patient and understanding - somebody who’s had a nervous cat like me before and is home most the day to continue my socialisation would be ideal.
If that’s you, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2) to arrange a visit.
