A recent bid for grant funding could add more electric vehicle charging points in Watford.
Watford Borough Council is making a new bid for the grant funding under the Government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme.
If the bid is successful, then there may be more charge points across the town, which could help boost the council’s sustainability strategy to make Watford carbon neutral by 2030.
Now a survey has launched to gage public opinion of the bid and where new charge points could go if the bid is successful.
In the council’s application for funding, they must demonstrate demand for EV charge points and vehicles, specifically on streets where there is mostly on-street parking and homes that have no driveways.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “With more and more people looking to invest in electric vehicles, we need to ensure we have enough charge points to meet the increase in demand. Watford residents are already ahead of the game with more electric vehicles registered in Watford than anywhere else in Hertfordshire.
“If you live in Watford and would be interested in switching to an electric vehicle, but don’t have close access to a charge point on your street, I would encourage you to fill out our online survey to help the council in our bid for more funding.
“We all have a commitment to halting the Climate Emergency and making our air cleaner for everyone and having more EV vehicles in our town will help to achieve these goals.”
