Did you join in the carnival fun in Abbots Langley in 1979? Can you spot yourself in one of these pictures?
These photos were shared by John Walton in the Watford Observer's nostalgia Facebook group, 'We grew up in Watford', and they brought back memories for other readers.
Roy Morris wrote: "I think that may have been the year I was on one of lorries. The Ovaltine factory had a lorry in the carnivals and they would have one serving Ovaltine sachets out the the crowds who were watching on the route."
Anne Hague said: "I used to love the carnivals, Abbots, Watford and St Albans. A great family day out. I guess H&S don’t allow now, shame."
It also gave Mick Fox an idea. He wrote: "It would be good, if after all this lockdown, local firms and organisations etc. organised one to promote themselves and their services..."
Our nostalgia group now has 9,000 members sharing memories and pictures of growing up in and around Watford. If you would like to join them, visit www.facebook.com/groups/watfordnostalgia
