Armed police were called to an address in Watford yesterday evening.
Hertfordshire Constabulary says it responded to report of concerns for the welfare of a man.
Armed policing vehicles were parked outside a property in Whippendell Road, near the Watford Business Park roundabout.
Two armed officers were seen looking towards a property from the street.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 6.05pm yesterday (Monday 22 February) to reported concerns for the welfare of a man in Watford.
"Officers attended an address in Whippendell Road and arrested a man.
"He has been admitted for treatment."
