Fraudsters are trying to fool people into handing over personal information through fake emails claiming to be from Currys PC World.
Hertfordshire Trading Standards (HTS) is warning people of the new phishing lure after it received reports of fake emails being received.
The emails purport to be from Currys PC World, with the opportunity to win a MacBook Pro or Nespresso.
But HTS has confirmed that they are bogus emails and are not sent from Currys PC World - the emails are intended to obtain people’s personal information.
Anyone who has received an email they are not sure about is asked to forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS) at report@phishing.gov.uk.
HTS added: “If you think you may have compromised the safety of your bank details and/or have lost money due to fraudulent misuse of your cards, you should immediately contact your bank.”
