Two men who claimed they had “no idea” about a pandemic have been fined for breaching Covid-19 restrictions.
Officers stopped a car on Queens Road in Watford on Sunday (February 14) after the vehicle was flagged as stolen from the Northumbria area.
The two men, aged in their 20s from London, were detained while police investigated, and it was discovered that the two men were sold the car in January and was not involved in its theft.
Police then seized the car and returned it to its rightful owner.
But before police released the two men, they were asked if their journey was essential and in line with current Covid-19 guidelines, and according to Watford Police they responded they had “no idea” about the pandemic as they “don’t watch the news”.
As a result, the two men were both fined for breaching Covid-19 restrictions. Hertfordshire Constabulary have been asked how much each individual was fined.
