Morrisons recently revealed it will become the first British supermarket to pay staff £10 an hour - but how much do the others pay?
Retail trade union Usdaw negotiated a £10 an hour basic rate for 96,000 Morrisons workers - up 80p on workers' current minimum wage of £9.20.
It brings wages 50p an hour above the currently voluntary Living Wage Foundation rate.
Here we take a look at what the others pay:
Asda
Asda’s basic hourly pay is £9.18 outside of London, and either £9.76 or £10.31 inside the capital.
A spokesman for the chain said the supermarket pays “well above the National Living Wage”, which is currently £8.72 but will rise to £8.91 in April.
He added: “On top of a competitive wage structure, Asda colleagues also receive a host of benefits which contribute to their yearly earnings, these including colleague discount in our stores and online, special discounts for shops and a yearly performance-based bonus.
“So simply looking at the hourly rate doesn't tell the full story."
Morrisons
Morrisons will become the first of all major supermarket chains to pay their staff a minimum of £10 per hour later this year.
The pay-rise is set to impact up to 96,000 staff who were originally on £9.20.
This wage increase was negotiated by Retail trade union Usdaw, and will see the majority of Morrisons staff wages rise by 9 per cent.
As with other supermarket chains, Morrisons' London wage will also increase, wages for inner London will rise by 85p and for outer London 60p per hour.
David Potts, chief executive officer at Morrisons, said: “It’s great to be able to say that in the UK from April this year, if you work at Morrisons supermarkets, you will earn at least £10 an hour.

“It’s a symbolic and important milestone that represents another step in rewarding the incredibly important work that our colleagues do up and down the country.
“Over the last year we have seen renewed and widespread appreciation in the UK for our colleagues who have had an incredibly tough 2020, working tirelessly so Britain could eat well and shop safely throughout the pandemic.
“Morrisons colleagues have earned their status as key workers, and this pay increase, many times over.”
Tesco
Shop staff receive an hourly rate of £9.30.
This is the result of a pay rise that came into effect last October, increasing 3.3 per cent from the previous rate.
This wage increase was developed in partnership with workers' union Usdaw alongside elected colleague representatives.
Workers can also get 10 per cent off their shopping, which increases to 15 per cent on payday weekends.
Other discounts include 20 per cent off F&F clothing, 25 per cent off Tesco Café, 10 per cent off Tesco Mobile and 20 per cent off car, home and pet insurances with Tesco Bank.
Sainsbury's
The current basic hourly rate is £9.30.
When you join the supermarket, you’ll be able to get 10 per cent off your shop at Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat after 12 weeks into your role.
You can also nominate someone else as a second user for your staff discount card, but they have to live at the same address as you.
Employees can also get a bonus each year.
A spokesperson for the company told the BBC: "Our colleagues do a brilliant job and we are so proud of how they continue to go above and beyond for our customers.
"We have made two thank you payments to frontline workers in recognition of this in the last year and regularly review colleague pay to make sure we offer leading rates."
Lidl
Lidl is set to pay its 23,000 staff members a £200 "thank you" payment for their efforts during the COVID-19 crisis.
Every category of frontline staff will receive the payment, from till workers to cleaners and Lidl GB chief executive Christian Härtnagel said: “Everyone in the food retail sector has been in the privileged position of being able to continue operating throughout this pandemic.
"However, it has been an extremely challenging period and our teams have done a phenomenal job in helping to keep the nation fed.
"I am incredibly proud of the dedication and commitment our colleagues have shown and continue to show and this payment is about recognising their unrelenting hard work and thanking each individual for the important part they've played in the year like no other.”
The hourly rate of all Lidl staff will also increase in March 2021, with entry-level wages rising to between £9.30 and £9.50 outside the M25 and £10.75 and £10.85 within the M25.
Aldi
Aldi revealed plans to give 30,000 staff a pay-rise for their efforts during the pandemic.
The German chain also has plans to open more stores around the UK as well as employing 4,000 more staff.
Staff pay is reportedly set to rise from £9.40 to £9.55 as a "thank you" to all staff who worked and continue to work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
London stores pay will rise to at least £11.07 an hour, up from £10.90
All Aldi staff were also rewarded with a 10 per cent Christmas bonus.
