Temperatures plummeted to as low as -4°C last night and look set to return to the minuses tonight.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for today with icy patches and snow showers a possibility across Hertfordshire.
Last night, the temperature was well below freezing, with lows of -4°C recorded between 2am – 3am in Watford and Rickmansworth, according to Met Office data.
Temperatures are forecast to drop to freezing in Watford by 4pm and falls as low as -2°C overnight.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning today for snow and ice across Hertfordshire and stretching east across the country.
What to expect
- Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
