Luther Blissett has said he is "disgusted" at Watford FC for using his tabloid nickname in an interview with Andre Gray.
The Watford legend previously questioned why the club had mentioned him in the chat with the forward.
Blissett outlined his disgust in a Facebook post following the release of the video at the weekend.
Speaking to the Do Not Scratch Your Eyes Podcast this week, Blissett was asked how he was feeling about the video.
The podcast hosts Justin and Carl said the apology was "staged".
And Blissett said: "Andre did not come across as being sorry about any of it.
"On top of that, the club set the bias questions.
"It was pretty bad.
"It's the fact that they think it's OK to appease fans who are totally ticked off by his behaviour and the non-performances.
"The club is trying to use my name to buy collateral for Andre.
"I find it disgusting they did that.
"I was not the one who had a party for my birthday."
During the Youtube video Gray discusses his poor form and his two lockdown breaches.
The person conducting the chat mentions Blissett's tabloid nickname "Luther Miss it".
Luther said he is unhappy with the club "portraying his goal scoring ability in a negative way" so they could, in his opinion, gain sympathy for their former record signing, who has scored just three times during this season and last.
Gray has twice broken lockdown protocol in the last year, and was fined by Surrey police, while on the pitch he has scored just three goals in 43 appearances across the last two seasons.
In the candid interview, the former record transfer fee holder said he needed to "be a man" and not try to hide away from the fact that his output on and off the pitch has not been up to the standard expected by the club, or its supporters.
"I'm nearly 30 years of age, I can own up to my mistakes and I feel like I have done," said Gray.
"I made the mistake twice, it's stupid.
"I'm not going to make excuses for it. I'm not going to hide behind anything.
"I've made two mistakes and I have to face up to it and be honest with myself.
"On the day I broke the rules and I need to be a man and take what came of it."
The club has so far refused to acknowledge Blissett's post.
