Businesses in Watford town centre that have delivered excellent service over the past very challenging year, can now be entered for a Watford BID Service Excellence award by Watford Observer readers.
The annual Watford BID Awards, which are back for a fifth year, celebrate businesses within the Business Improvement District (town centre) area that put their customers and clients first.
This year, the BID is asking Watford Observer readers to tell them which businesses they have been impressed by – it could be in store, or where a business has had to move online but continued to deliver an amazing service.
Nominations will include businesses that continued to provide excellent customer service while operating on reduced staff, those that adapted their business model significantly to adhere to Covid-19 rules, or those that made customers or clients feel particularly safe or demonstrated remarkable resilience.
Maria Manion, chief executive of Watford BID said: “It has been an incredibly tough year, packed full of uncertainties. Many of our businesses have been asked to close, then open, then close again at a moment’s notice – and comply with safety rules that no one could ever have imagined having to operate under. For those who have remained open throughout, staff are worn out, for those that have remained closed, owners and managers are facing very difficult decisions. Now, more than ever, we want to recognise those that deserve particular praise and say a collective thanks to everyone in Watford town centre for doing their bit.”
To nominate a business, send an email to enquiries@watfordbid.co.uk, by 5pm on Monday, February 8 2021. The email needs to include: the name of the business; the address of the business; why they business deserves this recognition (give as much information as possible); your name and contact details (in case further information is needed)
A judging panel will review all the entries and pick winners for each of the main business sectors operating in the BID area.
The BID is also encouraging its businesses to enter individual members of staff that stand out for an Excellent Employee Award.
The award winners will be announced in March.
Maria said: “It’s really disappointing not to be able to host our awards ceremony this year, as the event offers such a unique opportunity to bring together those that work in the town for a night of celebrations.
"However, the fun will have to wait until next year – the important thing is that we can still recognise and reward our businesses and their dedicated staff in the town centre that exemplify service excellence."
