My late father worked for a dissolved Scottish transport company called Smith of Maddiston as a trunk driver based at Stockton on Tees in the north east.
He worked constant nights in the late 1960s taking loads from Stockton to St Albans, then returning home the following night with a load heading for Teesside.
Smith of Maddiston had a depot at 229-231, Hatfield Road, St Albans (I can remember it being located behind a petrol station).
I am researching this company hence I am appealing for any information, in particular photographs of the fleet that your readers are willing to share.
