A private dementia care provider has welcomed the “milestone moment” as staff and residents receive Covid-19 vaccinations.
Tremona, a B&M care home at Alexandra Road, has began rolling out vaccinations to staff and residents at the home they work in, or at a local community vaccination hub.
“It was a milestone moment for us to receive the vaccination,” said Beckie Harrison, the Tremona care home manager.
She continued: “The vaccine has now added yet another layer of protection to those that live and work in the home, whilst reassuring those considering our home that the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff remain our number one priority.”
Aside from a sore arm and a mild headache, B&M Care has not documented any significant adverse side effects.
While the vaccine rolls out, the care home will continue to test residents on a monthly basis using PCR testing, and staff weekly.
Staff will also be tested twice a week using Lateral Flow Device test kits which provides results in less than 30 minutes.
