- The M25 has reopened following a serious collision.
- The clockwise carriageway has been closed for around seven hours for a police investigation to take place.
- Emergency services were first called to the carriageway near j25 for Enfield shortly after 1.30pm.
- This included an air ambulance and a hazardous response unit.
- Traffic was held on the anticlockwise carriageway to allow the helicopter to land.
- The Met Police has confirmed that one person was taken to hospital in a potentially life threatening condition.
- Police and traffic officers took the decision to close the M25 at j23 for the A1 causing chaos on the traffic network.
- Thousands of drivers were stuck in the closure and on routes around Hertfordshire and north London.
- The worst affected roads were the A406, A10, roads via Potters Bar, and the A414 between St Albans and Hatfield.
- The M25 reopened completely shortly before 10pm.
