Plans to turn a former bus depot into hundreds of new homes have been revitalised.
Fairview New Homes announced plans for 165 new residential properties at the Garston Bus Garage on St Albans Road, having recently bought the site.
Bus company, Arriva, stopped using the location when they moved their operations to Hemel Hempstead last year.
This latest development comes after Watford Real Estate failed to progress their planning consultation for 230 homes to Watford Borough Council in July 2018.
Fairview will hold a new public consultation on their proposal – which includes one, two and three-bedroom homes – at All Saints Leavesden Church hall, from 3pm – 7pm on February 12.
Meriden Councillor Amanda Grimston said: “We all knew that something was going to occur on this site, and I would certainly advise as many residents as possible to attend this consultation event so that Fairview New Homes can address concerns of the impact of this development.
“I will be particularly looking at the overlooking factor of adjacent properties, and the traffic and parking situation of nearby roads. We also have real concerns about an increase in traffic, both on St Albans Road and through the Meriden Estate. Meriden Way and The Gossamers are already a rat-run used by motorists to avoid the Dome roundabout.
Stanborough ward councillor, Tim Williams, added: "Although it is pleasing that the numbers proposed are lower than the original plans from last summer, this proposal at this location will still cause infrastructure issues on the highway network, local roads, health services and on school places - so we need to ensure we address these during the planning process.
“Further, the option of nothing occurring on this site will not happen, so whatever does happen needs to be in accordance with planning policies and of no detriment to local residents".
