One person is in a serious condition in hospital after a car hit pedestrians outside a supermarket today (Sunday).
Emergency services raced to Tesco in Harefield Road, Rickmansworth, just before 2pm, while the area was packed with Christmas shoppers.
Police say the hit-and-run happened moments after a person inside the store was challenged by security after attempting to steal alcohol.
The driver and passenger of a dark blue Citroen C3 were reportedly involved, before they fled the store, and the scene, knocking into ‘several people’ in their escape.
The blue car, a hire car, with the registration plate KW18 HGK, is being hunted by police.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says one person was taken with ‘serious injuries’ to Watford General Hospital, while another needed hospital treatment, as ambulances and police officers flooded the car park and the area was taped off.
Anyone who witnessed the incident and has any information, who has not yet spoken to police, should contact them on 101 quoting reference number ISR 397 of December 23.
