A second-ever French market has been hailed as an “enormous success”.
Rickmansworth held the market last Saturday as stallholders from northern France made the journey across the Channel to shut down the high street for a day.
It was the second visit from the traders, who were selling traditional French cuisine and produce, as well as handmade goods, as people flocked to the town centre.
The event was organised by the Rickmansworth Town team.
Muriel Charles, from France at Home market, said: “A great thank to you for hosting our market, but most of all congratulations for all the hard work and great advertising Rickmansworth Town did to make the market so successful. I must add that the traders were so happy to get such a warm welcome from the public and the shops.”
Nina Hosking, chairman of the Rickmansworth Town Team, said “Well done to Michael Stimpson, Pete Roedling and Emily Stimpson for all their hard work. This is the sort of event we need in Rickmansworth and the Town Team are working hard to produce events like this such as the Folk Festival and the Winter Fair, as well as a number of concerts such as the Julie Felix and Polly Morris concert in October.”
The market’s whistle-stop tour continued to Hatfield House but the town is already planning on bringing the market back next year.
