On Sunday April 8 the Amersham & District Motorbus Society, held its third classic bus running day at Watford Junction station interchange. The theme was ‘Farewell to Garston garage,’. The bus depot opened in 1952 and is slated for closure later this year.
A variety of heritage buses ran from the Junction to various parts of greater Watford and surrounding areas. Several buses ran into and through Garston garage with kind permission of Arriva London - a rare ride indeed.
With Garston garage as a backdrop, a classic bus, GS13 on route 319, departs for the Ovaltine Works on a dark and rainy Sunday morning. These little GS’s formed many local country bus services including Chorleywood, Rickmansworth and Harefield. They entered service in 1953 and were withdrawn in 1972.
