What makes you qualified to be the next mayor?
I have 20 years experience as a Watford councillor. I am a community leader and family man who has lived in Watford most of his life. The local candidate in tune with our town.
Can you list your previous jobs over the years?
I was an apprentice auto engineer at Rolls Royce. I have worked for 27 years as instructional officer in rehabilitation at HMP The Mount.
What qualifications did you get at school?
Seven GCSEs
Which role model/s inspires you?
Nelson Mandela - his humanity, his ability to forgive and promote reconciliation and his willingness to endure self-sacrifice to secure the liberation of his people.
Who are the most important people in your life?
My wife Rajinder and our children
What are you reading at the moment?
I do most of my reading online - mostly current affairs, local government and politics Who is your favourite musician/band?
Abba - unforgettable songs.
What would your superpower be?
To eliminate poverty in Watford.
What has been your greatest achievement so far?
Every month, I see lives changing in the prison service. Giving prisoners a skill or trade is the best insurance against reoffending.
What has been your greatest disappointment?
Politically the fact that Labour lost the 2010 General Election that led directly to the scrapping of the plans to rebuild the hospital.
What has been your most embarrassing moment in your life?
When playing football in an international match in Belgium I missed a penalty that resulted in our team being knocked out of the cup.
What are you most afraid of?
Anyone doing harm to my family.
What are your hobbies?
Gardening and playing sports (football and cricket).
What is your best childhood memory?
Our family reuniting in Watford at the age of nine.
How would your friends describe you?
Fun-loving but serious when I need to be.
What will you do next if you do not become the next mayor?
I will carry on rehabilitating prisoners so their lives can change away from crime.
