If you turned to page eight of this week’s paper and let out an exasperated sigh after seeing the grinning faces of the three candidates in this year’s mayoral elections printed on our pages yet again, I have some bad news. You haven’t seen anything yet.
Dorothy Thornhill is stepping down in May after serving as Watford’s first elected mayor (and first female elected mayor in the UK) since 2002.
She has overseen a lot of changes to the town over the years, including transforming the council from being “one of the worst in the country” - at least according to her party.
The Watford Observer is keen to see who will triumph out of Cllr Peter Taylor, George Jabbour or Cllr Jagtar Singh Dhindsa.
As a result, we are kicking off our coverage by printing their manifestos to see what they plan to offer in order to keep Watford as a “high-performing” council.
Who will be man enough to fill Dorothy’s shoes?
Make your own decisions as we follow the candidates closely over the next few weeks.
