A mayoral candidate has pledged to boost the town's parks and open spaces so they can gain the national standard status.
Liberal Democrat mayoral candidate Cllr Peter Taylor has said he wants to ensure five more parks gain green flag status by 2019, extra to the current 11 green flag parks in Watford.
Cllr Taylor has set his sights on Colne Valley, Garston Park, Harwoods Recreation Ground, King George V Playing Fields and Watford Heath to become the next with the award, which will mean the spaces will undergo small conservation work and in some cases, major improvements to play facilities.
He said: "In a built-up area like Watford we need high-quality parks and green spaces. If I am elected Mayor I will make sure that we maintain and improve our parks so that they can be enjoyed by everyone."
