An MP braved snowy conditions last week to guest speak at a gala dinner in Watford.
Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry, who also represents Islington South and Finsbury, battling through snow storms and train cancellations to make it to Watford Labour Party’s annual fund raising Gala Dinner at Jurys Inn in Clarendon Road on Friday night.
During the evening she shared her thoughts about the Metropolitan Line Extension while guest speaking in front of a crowd which included the Labour candidate in this year’s mayoral election Jagtar Singh Dhindsa and Labour candidate in the next General Election Chris Ostrowski.
She said: “If ever there was a need for the Metropolitan Line Extension it was tonight. Thanks to some lovely Watford residents I was able to get a lift to the hotel in driving snow but a town centre station is what you need.
“I was very disappointed to read that the Metropolitan Line project has stalled. It’s unreasonable to expect the Mayor of London to carry all the risk for this project when the Tory Government has cut all of TFL’s £700 million grant.
“This is a major national infrastructure project and the Government should take responsibility for building it.”
