Concern has been raised over the “hygiene standards” of the bus cabin located next to Watford Junction.
George Jabbour, who is the Conservative candidate in next May’s mayoral election in Watford, says he has written to Arriva’s headquarters to complain about rubbish being dumped outside the station.
Mr Jabbour believes the discarded waste could attract rats and result in a number of “health and safety” issues for commuters who catch trains from the Junction, located in Station Road.
He said: “The wall mounted bin outside the cabin is broken and there is a large amount of rubbish outside the cabin in the direction of the train line, which would altract rats.
“With the winter coming soon and the weather getting colder and wetter, it is essential for this issue to be dealt with as soon as possible.”
Arriva has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
