The Liberal Democrat Mayoral candidate is aiming to make the streets safer for cyclists.
Deputy Mayor Peter Taylor - who is running in next May’s Mayoral elections – wants to set up a new cycling forum in Watford and introduce a bike hire scheme.
He believes that better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians, along with improvements to public transport, will be “critical” to Watford’s success in the future.
Peter said: “Watford is a growing and successful town. This growth has resulted in our roads becoming more and more congested. It is vital that we have better transport facilities to keep our town moving.
“If I am elected as Mayor of Watford in 2018 I will make improvements to our infrastructure a top priority. We cannot have more homes being built without the services in place to cope with the increased number of people in our town.
“I will make sure that we have a bike-hire scheme up and running and have better facilities for cyclists in Watford. I will bring cycle groups and the councils together to make sure that we make improvements so that residents and visitors have the choice to cycle safely across our town.”
Cllr Taylor will compete with Conservative candidate George Jabbour and Labour cllr Jagtar Singh Dhindsa when current Mayor Dorothy Thornhill steps down from her role next year.
