The second Yellow Comedy New Comedian of the Year Competition is taking place next week.
The contest, taking place at the White Lion in St Albans Road on August 16, will feature acts who have been performing comedy since January 2016.
There will be a number of the best up-and-coming comedy talents on the UK open mic circuit.
The attending audience on the night will get to vote at the end of the evening to pick the winner.
Andrew Carberry, organizer of Yellow Comedy events, says: “One of the main aims of Yellow Comedy is to provide the best up-and-coming unsigned comedy talent with opportunities to perform comedy in front of audiences in the Watford and surrounding areas. This competition provides newer comics the opportunity to do that.”
The winner of the competition will win £25 and the Yellow Comedy New Comedian of the Year trophy. Last year’s winner was Watford’s own Jack Franks who was picked by an audience at Reason Coffee and Bookstore in The Parade, in an event supported by Link 4 Growth South West Herts.
Last year’s competition also saw local entrants from Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley and Oxhey.
Yellow Comedy has run over 110 comedy shows in Carpenders Park, Chesham, Croxley Green, Little Chalfont, Harrow, Islington, London Bridge, Oxhey and Watford since May 2015.
The events have featured over 250 different performers including 2015 BBC New Comedy Award winner Yuriko Kotani.
