Students at the first new secondary school to open in the area for many years met their new form tutors and classmates for the first time this week.
Croxley Danes School opened its doors on Tuesday to let its 120 founding students get a feel for what to expect in September.
For the first year the school will operate on the St Clement Danes School site in Chorleywood, but it will eventually move to a permanent site at the bottom of Baldwins Lane in Croxley Green, where the school will provide high-quality education to more than 1,200 students aged 11 to 18.
St Clement Danes School is an outstanding, oversubscribed school which will act as a blueprint for the new school, with its headteacher Dr Josephine Valentine overseeing operations as the executive headteacher for both schools.
Mr Stephen Thompson, formerly deputy headteacher at St Clement Danes, is the new headteacher at Croxley Danes.
“We were delighted to welcome our students to the school this week,” he said.
“They are an impressive group of young people who I am sure will become fantastic ambassadors for the school over the next seven years.”
On Tuesday, an evening was held for parents and students to become acquainted with their form tutors and classmates, while on Thursday the students returned to the refurbished Clare Building to spend further time with their tutor and sample a range of lessons.
The school will be holding an open evening for interested parents on Tuesday, September 26, starting at 7pm.
