A nursery invited families and parents to explore how to eat healthily without breaking the bank by meeting a Masterchef winner.

Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed, who won 2017’s Masterchef, joined the Busy Bees nursery at Watford Hospital to launch their involvement in a national healthy eating campaign for children under-five.

Ms Mahmood-Ahmed helped children to make healthy smoothies.

On June 21, parents were able to meet Ms Mahmood-Ahmed along with Busy Bees catering manager Matt Clarke and David Persaud, catering mark development manager at the Soil Association, who formed an expert panel to answer questions about healthy eating for children.

The nursery has a silver award for its food and nutrition, which is a “rubber stamp guarantee” from the Soil Association.

Ms Mahmood-Ahmed, whose son Aashir has been at the nursery for a year and a half, said: “I’ve always had a passion for food and cooking, so naturally, that was something I took into consideration when choosing a nursery for my son.”
