The WhatsApp messaging service crashed last night, meaning users were unable to send or receive messages.
People took to Twitter and Facebook to complain about the outage, which hit the UK at about 9.30pm.

WhatsApp said they were aware of the problem and were working urgently to fix it.

Problems were also reported in the US, South America and Asia.
Service resumed by about 11.20pm.
Facebook-owned WhatsApp appears to have offered no explanation as to why there was an outage.
The app is used by more than 1 billion people across the globe.
