One of the most popular local music festivals returns for another year.

Sarratt Festival of Music, which sees international artists enjoying the acoustics of the village hall, takes places over the last two weekends in September as usual.

This year's festival opens on Friday, September 16, with, Sarratt's Friday Night is Music Night and will star world renowned tenor, Bonaventura Bottone, his soprano wife, Jennifer Dakin, and soprano daughter Rebecca Bottone.

Bonaventura has performed leading roles all over the world and his wife is a BBC TV broadcaster, who has also sung in many operas.

They will be entertaining audiences with an evening of solos, duets and trios from Verdi, Mozart and Puccini, and lighter numbers from Strauss, Lehar, and Gilbert and Sullivan.

Saturday, September 17, will see the jazz night with Misbehavin' - a tribute to Fats Waller with the Keith Nicholls Band. Waller, who had a great comic personality, is the master of stride piano and a prolific composer of shows and hit songs. Hits include Ain't Misbehavin', Keeping Out Of Mischief Now, Honeysuckle Rose and Black And Blue.

The second weekend opens with the prestigious Nash Ensemble on Friday, September 22.

This internationally acclaimed chamber group, resident at the Wigmore Hall since 2010, are known for their adventurous programming and virtuoso performances. They will be bringing their wind quintet to Sarratt for an enticing programme of the finest music for this grouping.

The final concert takes place on Saturday, September 24 with the music group Joglaresa. This band, who have been described by critics as an 'exciting air of authenticity', embodies the boldness and improvisatory chutzpah that goes straight to the heart of medieval music and brings together intoxicating elements of medieval, Middle Eastern and Celtic music.
