More than 100 homes could be built on a plot of land on the outskirts of Mill End.
Developers want to build 122 homes on a plot of land between the Grand Union Canal and the River Colne, along Springwell lane.
Plans submitted to Hillingdon Council show developers want to build 40 four-bed houses, 18 three-bed houses and 74 flats.
Michael Stimpson, chairman of the Rickmansworth and District Residents Association, said: “If there are 122 homes, that means there will be at least 500 people.
“It will increase the pressure on schools and doctors in the area.
“But the biggest problem will be the traffic. The roads cannot cope with the increased number of cars and most of the additional cars will come out on to Uxbridge Road near where the new school is going to be built.
“If there is an accident on the M25, the whole of Rickmansworth blocks up.”
