The Hertfordshire Society for the Blind has received a donation of more than £30,000 from a developer.
Taylor Wimpey North Thames has hosted a variety of events throughout the year from football tournaments to golf days and auctions to raise money for the charity.
Hertfordshire Society for the Blind aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation, maintain independence and provide assistance with daily needs for blind people.
Representatives from the charity visited the head office of Taylor Wimpey in Borehamwood earlier this month to receive a cheque of £32,000.
Ron Pickford, chief executive of the charity, said: "I’m speechless – what a staggering amount of money.
"A massive thank you to the team at Taylor Wimpey North Thames and their contractors and suppliers for the outstanding support and generosity in this, the society’s centenary year.
"This will make a huge difference to the work of the society, in particular it has allowed us to recruit an additional Outreach Support Worker to meet the growing demand for our services in supporting people in need in our community and a whole lot more."
Peter Gurr, managing director of Taylor Wimpey North Thames, said: "I’m extremely proud that together we have raised a phenomenal amount of money for the Hertfordshire Society for the Blind.
"We never expected that we would be donating as much as £32,000, so to reach such a high figure is absolutely fantastic. We’d like to say thank you to everyone who has helped in supporting our efforts."
